I can’t say I’m a big fan of Peter Pan in general, but I do like Joe Wright. Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, Hanna, Anna Karenina. Those were some solid flicks.
But something has been missing from his so far successful career. And that something is excessive special effects.
Well it’s missing no more!
Pan is a sort of prequel to Peter Pan. Instead of Peter coming and saving the orphans, this time it’s him being saved, only to come across the dread pirate Blackbeard. But he also makes some new friends, like his cool buddy Hook. I can’t imagine how that relationship might sour…
I imagine the studio is hoping Pan will turn into a franchise, which could be kinda cool. Prequel first, then the regular Peter Pan story for the sequel, and maybe something taking place after Peter Pan for the end of a trilogy. Maybe they could just rerelease Hook.
At least we’d get Robin Williams in theaters again.
