A Flyover State
Local H are actual local boys for me. They’re from Zion, IL, which is a northern suburb of Chicago (I’m from the western suburbs) and so, along with a few other bands, like Fall Out Boy and, uh, The Smashing Pumpkins, they get extra credit in my book. Because tribalism.
California Songs is a must love tune, though, one that correctly sums up all my feelings on the world: the flyover states say Fuck You to the dickheads on the coasts who think we all know and care about their shit. Notice how I went out of my way to tell you where Zion is in relation to Chicago? Notice that I didn’t assume you’d know every fucking thing about where I’m from? Yeah, fuck you, New York. You’re not special, you’re just a bunch of assholes.
